چکیده

Problems related to fermions, unitarity and chiral anomaly in high energy electroweak interactions, are investigated. Particular attention is paid to the correct functional integration over fermion fields in the background of instanton-antiinstanton type configurations. This leads to an expansion of correlation functions in terms of a small parameter, ρ/R, when the instanton-antiinstanton separation (R) is large compared to their sizes (ρ). Applying such a method to widely discussed cases of fermion-number violation in the electroweak theory, we conclude that there are no theoretical basis for expecting anomalous cross sections to become observable at energies in the 10 TeV region. (non)decoupling of mirror fermions

We study ’t Hooft anomaly matching in lattice models with strong Yukawa or multi-fermion interactions. Strong non-gauge interactions among the mirror fermions in a vectorlike lattice gauge theory are introduced with the aim to obtain, in a strong-coupling symmetric phase, a long-distance unbroken gauge theory with chiral fermions in a complex representation. We show how to use exact lattice chi...

Nonstandard implementation of the standard Higgs boson

We discuss an alternative implementation of the Higgs boson within the Standard Model which is possible if the renormalizability condition is relaxed. Namely, at energy scale Λ the Higgs boson interacts at tree-level only with matter fermions, while the full gauge invariance is still maintained. The interactions with the electroweak gauge bosons are induced at low energies through the radiative...

The " Crisis in Fundamental Physics " -will the Lhc Pomeron End It ? *

SU(5) gauge theory with massless left-handed fermions in the representation 5 ⊕ 15 ⊕ 40 ⊕ 45 * (QUD) may have a bound-state S-Matrix that, uniquely, contains the asymptotically unitary Critical Pomeron and which might also reproduce the full Standard Model. If so, QUD would provide an underlying unification for the Standard Model in which very similar massless fermion anomaly dynamics is respon...

High-energy Unitarity and the Standard Model *

High-energy unitarity is argued to select a special version of QCD as the strong interaction. Electroweak symmetry breaking has to be due to a new sextet quark sector-that will produce large cross-section effects at the LHC. The sextet sector embeds, uniquely, in a massless SU (5) theory that potentially generates the states and interactions of the Standard Model within a bound-state S-Matrix. ...

Electroweak Precision Data and a Heavy Z ′

We consider the physics of an extra U(1) gauge boson Z , which can mix with Z through intermediate fermion loops. The loop contribution due to the heavy top quark significantly affects the low-energy observables, and for mZ′ > mZ , one can always adjust the shifts in these observables to be in the right direction suggested by experiments, when we impose the anomaly cancellation conditions for Z...
